Holt Provides Complete Deck Hardware solution for SunFast 3200
The TransQuadra 2008-2009 is a Yacht Race for amateur competitors over the age of 40. The event is divided into two stages. The first stage is from St Nazaire, on the Atlantic coast of France, to Madeira. The second stage, starting 6 months later is from Madeira to St. Martin in Martinique. This amateur race across the Atlantic Ocean was the dream of two men, Thierry Cazuax & Olivier Bellest.
Thierry was aware of a growing range of fantastic “big boat” products available from HOLT and so approached us with a request for sponsorship. Of course, we agreed as this was a fantastic opportunity for all concerned and a partnership was formed. Thierry & Olivier’s boat is a Sun Fast 3200 and was equipped with a variety of HOLT’s deck Hardware, not least the HoltNautos Self Tailing 32 Winches and the brand new XR1 Clutch Range.
The TransQuadra proved to be a real test of Man, Boat & Equipment.
During the first stage from St. Nazaire to Madeira, the competitors saw winds in the region of 35 knots for long periods with peaks at approximately 50 knots! Of course, the seaway accompanying this breeze was nothing short of epic! Thierry reported after the race that the equipment supplied by HOLT excelled and enabled the two handed SunFast 3200 to be controllable in the toughest of conditions. The unique two part handle on the XR1 clutch meant that precise adjustments were still possible when required. The extra power available with the HoltNautos ST32 Winches when compared to competitor winches also helped enormously, saving valuable effort & energy for the two handed team.
